Trauma, PTSD & EMDR Therapy in Austin, TX + Virtually in TX
“As long as you keep secrets and suppress information, you are fundamentally at war with yourself…The critical issue is allowing yourself to know what you know. That takes an enormous amount of courage.”
― Bessel A. van der Kolk, The Body Keeps the Score: Brain, Mind, and Body in the Healing of Trauma
Trauma can impact how we move through the world. It can keep us in a constant state of alertness, stress, avoidance, anxiety, & disconnection from ourselves or others.
Trauma can shape how you move through the world—even long after the original event has passed. It can keep your nervous system stuck in survival mode, leaving you anxious, shut down, afraid of your environment or others around you, or overwhelmed by emotions you can’t quite name. You may feel emotionally out of control, easily triggered, or disconnected from yourself and those around you. Maybe you’re struggling with shame or feelings of unworthiness that drive you to earn self-worth through hyper ambition or workaholism. You are not alone.
The good news is that you do not need to remember your trauma or have all the details to heal from it. At ATC, trauma therapy is centered on utilizing a holistic, mind-body-spirit approach and creating a safe space for you to make meaning of your present symptoms in light of past traumatic events.
We utilize both Cognitive Processing Therapy and EMDR to help clients reprocess trauma.

Our trauma therapy practice is about helping you heal the negative thoughts about yourself (such as “I’m not safe” or “It’s all my fault” or “I’m broken”) and to help cultivate a renewed sense of trust in yourself and others. We’ll help teach your nervous system safety so than you can move forward and feel more grounded and connected in your life.
